THURSDAY TOGETHER: We are privileged to have local author and broadcaster TONY MACAULAY with us this week. Tony has written the books, The Paper Boy, The Bread Boy and All Growed Up and will be telling us about his life, the early part living in west Belfast. You are welcome to join us at this meeting held in the Burney Room at 2.30pm.
PW: Boxes for Malawi. PW members are preparing four boxes to send to the work in Malawi. If you would like to add your gift to one of the educational boxes you can do so today. We need: pens, pencils, crayons, colouring pencils, rubbers, sharpeners, rulers, setsquares and paper.
PARENT AND TODDLERS: We are now on twitter. Follow them on @GPC_PandT
Heating Controls: We are working very hard to reduce our exorbitant heating bills, in this regard we are in the process of posting notices at the heating controls as to how to use them. Last week-end despite a notice clearly in place stating not to touch a certain button and also taping the button over to make it doubly clear, someone pushed the forbidden button on the Mosaic heating control (now we understand Eve in the Garden of Eden better!). The result was that they did not boost the heat for 3 hours as they presumably intended but rather delayed the clock by three hours which meant that the next group were frozen! Our suspicions are that this was a man, women read instructions! Who ever you are please don’t do this again and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, read the instructions! I will now lie down in a dark room until I recover my tranquillity!
NEWTOWNABBEY STREET PASTORS: Could you give one night per month to make a difference in our community? Newtownabbey Street Pastors are holding the next training sessions starting Saturday 28th February in Belfast Central Mission, Glengall Street, Belfast, 9.30am—4pm. If you are interested or just want to find out what street pastors do you can also join a team on a Friday or Saturday night as an observer with no obligation to join. Please speak to Alison McClean, Peter Shepherd or Hazel Kyle for further details.
