Each evening begins with tea, coffee and cake before breaking out into discussion groups to reflect upon what has been read in the preceding week.

OMF Ireland Day Conference, Saturday 14th October, Dunsilly Hotel. The theme of this year’s conference is, “All the Nations of the Earth shall be blessed”. John & Emiri Orme will speak about ministry in Japan, and a cross-cultural worker will share their experience serving in a hard-to-reach country in East Asia. There will be the opportunity to hear from those who are reaching out to East Asians living in Ireland, and to consider how God has brought the nations to us to be a blessing and to enrich the local church. For further information, please speak to Alison Orr.
SHOEBOX APPEAL 2023: This year we are aiming to return to our original format of filling shoeboxes. Anyone wishing to fill a shoebox, or part fill a shoebox, can collect an empty shoebox in Mosaic to-day. As well there will be a shoebox collection box, for anyone wishing to donate money instead of filling a box. Items suitable to put in a shoebox: Hat, scarf, gloves; bar of soap, facecloth or sponge, toothbrush, comb or brush; pencil case with pencils, pens, sharpener, rubber; either coloured pencils or crayons depending on age, colouring book, notebook, 6 inch ruler; Knitted bags, purses, glove puppets; hair bobbles and clips small geometry sets. Toys: Small balls, cars, trucks, skipping ropes, jigsaws, small musical instruments, fluffies, yo-yo’s, pocket games in a tin, card games (not playing cards), slinkys, small dolls. All toys must have a CE mark. No liquids, toothpaste or sweets. Card, photo or letter to the child who will receive your box. Do not include any addresses or Church name. If you prefer you can still fill a shoebox on line through the Samaritans Purse website. Please remember to let a member of the team know if you do. To date in the23 year’s we have sent 3593 shoeboxes to various destinations across the world. With the congregations usual generosity we hope to add to this total in our 24th year of sending boxes. This year’s boxes will be going to somewhere in Eastern Europe and we will update you when we know more. The 200 millionth shoebox was presented to a young orphan girl in Ukraine last year.
FOODBANK: As a church we have generously donated food items to Newtownabbey Foodbank on many previous occasions. Foodbank volunteers typically support between 30-40 families each week who are experiencing food poverty. Despite the rising food, fuel and energy costs the number of families and individuals receiving help has remained consistent. The Foodbank has seen a slight decrease in the amount of food that has been donated in recent months, meaning some items are regularly out of stock. If you feel that you would like to support the work of Newtownabbey Foodbank this year I have included a list of food items that are required and some items that we do not need at this time.
Items required: Canned Tuna, Canned Meat, Canned Fruit, Canned Rice & Custard, Canned Soup
Items not needed: Breakfast Cereal, Baked Beans
Please can you leave any items in Mosaic and they will be taken to the Foodbank on a regular basis. Thanks again for your support of the Newtownabbey Foodbank.
