Walking Club

Glengormley Presbyterian Walking Club was started in January 2000 to encourage people to take some exercise and arose out of the fact that there are lovely walks where it is not safe for one person to go alone. We started with about eight walkers but this has grown steadily to around thirty, although not everyone is able to go on every walk.

At present we meet on the last Wednesday of the month, leaving the church car park at 9.30am. Our favourite walks are in Antrim, Holywood and Bangor. The walks are gentle so that walkers can go at their own pace and walk as long or as short as they wish.

As we walk we have the opportunity to chat and get to know one another. The highlight of the morning is the coffee stop. We generally spend as much time over coffee as we do walking. It is our custom to have a special meal at Christmas and at the end of June. When we meet we enjoy each other’s company with lots of fun and jokes.

Anyone is welcome to join us and enjoy the exercise and the fun. It is simply a matter of turning up at the car park at 9.30am on the last Wednesday of the month. Our Christmas dinner is the exception as we are meeting on 2nd December 2009 and that needs to be booked in advance.
