Prayer Diary
Monday 6th February 2012 – Pray for our minister, life group leaders, Sunday club teachers, and all who have teaching responsibility in our congregation. May they know Gods leading as they prepare and deliver their work – for Spirit-filled teaching that meets the needs of our congregation.
Tuesday 7th February 2012 – Give thanks that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Wednesday 8th February 2012 – A prayer for today. Lord Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever, unchanging in wisdom, power and might, protect us in all our dangers and carry us through all our temptations that, delivered from every anxiety, we may reveal in our lives the fruits of your grace; for your own name’s sake. Amen
Thursday 9th February 2012 – Uplift in prayer those families in our congregation who have suffered bereavements. Remember also our ministry team, elders and wider church family, as they gather round and seek to comfort and support the bereaved.
Friday 10th February 2012 – Pray for the safety of our Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Remember in prayer the families of those who have lost their lives. Also pray for the healing of those who have been injured.
Saturday 11th February 2012 – Give thanks for the work and witness of our ministry team. Also give thanks for all who give up their time to perform roles in our congregation. Pray that they may know God’s guidance and blessing on their work.
Sunday 12th February 2012 – Pray for courage and strength for Middle East Christians who are being persecuted and oppressed because of their faith. The wave of change sweeping through the region has not brought about more freedom of belief but has increased the persecution to our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Prayer Diary
Monday 30th January – Pray that what we are learning in the ‘JUST 10′ series will stay with us each day. Pray that God’s Word will influence our daily lives and attitudes.
Tuesday 31st January – Ask God to be with our children and young people. School life, College and early years at work bring many pressures and much that contradicts the Christian teaching they have here. Pray that God will keep them close to Himself and strengthened as their Faith is challenged.
Wednesday 1st February – Many people face pressures at work as jobs go and fewer staff are left to do the work. Pray both for those with too much to do and those who have lost their jobs and income. Ask that those who cannot find employment in the current situation, will find encouragements.
Thursday 2nd February – Pray for Brett who is on placement with us and who is exploring Ministry possibilities. Ask God to guide him and to Bless him and his family during this time.
Friday 3rd February – Glorija and Sebastian are excited that at last they are looking to establish a Church, with Sebastian as Pastor, in their home town of Radovljica. Sebastian will visit Northern Ireland in March and hopes to see friends then. Pray for the fledgling Fellowship in that part of Slovenia.
Saturday 4th February – On this last day of the week, look back over people you have met and conversations you have had. Remember these people in Prayer before the God who is able to do ‘Immeasurably more than we can ask or think’.
Sunday 5th February – Thank God for His Saving Grace. Thank Him for his new Mercies and new beginnings each day. Pray that we may, this new day, sing His Praises from our hearts.

Church Media
Over the next few weeks there will be a set of instructions attached to each area of media in the church for example the new portable TV / media station in the church halls, wireless internet etc. Some of these are in place already. They will include the name of a person to contact for guidance if there is a fault with the equipment.
We would recommend that organisations who do not feel that they have a level of competency within their membership to use the equipment that they require, that they seek to build a relationship with someone in the congregation who can help them. If a defect or malfunction is discovered then this should be reported to the appropriate person responsible.
The point of contact for each area is as follows:
Church magazine & other publications – Frank Murray
Media equipment in church halls – Peter McKinstry & Robert McKinstry
Internet – Fay Robinson
Website – Andy McClelland
Church screens – Alan Thomson
Church sound – Ruth Hewitt
Sunday Audio / Visual Requirements
Taking part in a Sunday service? Need an announcement or photo displayed on the screens or a microphone for a drama?
The sound and PowerPoint rotas are now displayed on the rota noticeboard in the vestibule. If you have any requirements for the audio/visual team on a Sunday please contact the relevant person in advance using the contact details posted on the noticeboard.
Information to be displayed on the screens can also be emailed to balcony@glengormley.org, however please also notify the person on duty for that service.

CONGREGATIONAL NOTICES
40 NOT OUT!
Our Organist and Choir-master Mr. George Hewitt celebrates 40 years as our musical director to-day. He came to us on the first Sunday in 1972 as a young single man , without children or grandchildren! There are many anecdotes
which we could relate covering all those years but just a few to stir your memory.
In those days there were some 40 members in the choir and we were able to undertake
various commitments, among them, concerts to support PWAs, etc
We did concerts from Bushmills to Ballymena, and from Muckamore to Mourne.
The Choir was trained to a very high degree of efficiency to such a pitch that the choir could sing one piece while Mr. Hewitt played the accompaniment to another!
We were very fortunate to have the services of Lindlay Hamilton and Billy Lilley who
provided instrumental items for our programmes. Another highlight of the concerts were the duets sung by Jean Markey and John Montgomery.
In September 1972 there was a surprise supper, when the choir presented George and Elaine with a wedding gift and were delighted to have George’s parents present.
As many of you know George was principal of Linn Primary School in Larne and he
was immensely proud of his brass band and was thrilled when they lead our Worship
at our evening service. This was not our only involvement with Larne. The choir joined with Larne Operatic Society to sing extracts from Handel’s Messiah, a great
memory for both George and the choir.
Helen was born on 9th June 1974 at 9.00am and it is a standing joke that he was in the
Church in time for the 10.00am Children’s Day service. He always gets his priorities
right.
He was ordained as an elder in September 1980, and was vitally involved in the formation of the Praise Band during the Ministry of Rev. Leslie Casement.
The quality of the musical aspect of our worship in Glengormley Presbyterian owes much to the enthusiasm and dedication of George Hewitt and we have been blessed
by having him as our organist. As a congregation we congratulate George on this remarkable achievement and thank him for forty years of dedicated service.
Parents & Toddlers – Recommence on Thursday 12th January 10.30 – 12noon.
Guides, Brownies & Rainbows – Recommence on Thursday 12th January 6.30pm.

Prayer Diary
ISAIAH 9v2
“THE PEOPLE WALKING IN DARKNESS -
Monday 5th December – Pray for those all around us who walk in the darkness, – those who will experience Christmas without Christ. Pray that many will hear the familiar words of Carols and Bible readings in a new way – a way that speaks of God’s Love for them personally.
Tuesday 6th December - Pray for Nations in darkness. Pray for their leaders – name them before God and pray for them. Pray especially for our own Nation with so much moral darkness.
— HAVE SEEN A GREAT LIGHT.
Wednesday 7TH December – Rejoice that Jesus, the Light of the World, brings the Light of his Presence into the darkest of situations. Pray for those anxious about health, finance, employment and family situations.
Thursday 8TH December – Pray that the ‘Great Light’ of God’s love in Jesus would radiate from this Church and every Christian – to family, friends, colleagues and neighbours, indeed to our whole neighbourhood.
— ON THOSE LIVING IN THE LAND OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH -
Friday 9th December – Pray for those whose Christian faith marks them out for persecution and isolation. Pray too for those who have lost loved ones in the last year and for who Christmas will be a difficult time. Pray that all of these, whether near or far, will know the Peace and Protection of the Saviour, Immanuel- God with us.
— A LIGHT HAS DAWNED.”
Saturday 10th December – Pray that every organisation in this Church will faithfully honour God in all that they do, so that, in all age groups, many will come to a new dawn of Faith in Christ.
Sunday 11th December – Praise God for all in this place that proclaims that the Light has come!
Pray for optimism and hope for the future as we think, not in terms of the darkness of apathy, but rather the Dawn of new opportunities.

The upgrade of our Audio Visual hardware is now in its final stages. We began with the introduction of monitors replacing the Data Projector and screens and we complete the upgrade with a re-routing of the Loop system to improve performance, the installation of a camera, the re-positioning of the two of our loud speakers to cover a “dead” zone at the front of the church, internet access for the PowerPoint Computer and an upgrade of software. All of this is in response to “feed back” from the congregation over the past year and was mainly funded through the remaining funds that we had received on Gift Day for the monitors some time ago, and a new and cheaper contract for our phone line. We would like to thank Ruth Hewitt our media convenor for planning and arranging all this (ably helped by her husband Mark!).
